Aquatic emergencies require more than a fast response. They require effective leadership, clear decision-making, coordinated communication and the ability to manage complex situations involving staff, patrons, contractors, emergency services and multiple stakeholders. Aquatic Emergency Leadership, Coordination and Incident Management has been designed for aquatic facility supervisors, managers, duty managers, emergency wardens and other personnel responsible for leading emergency responses within aquatic environments. Participants will develop a practical understanding of emergency leadership, evacuation coordination, participant accountability, incident escalation, communication and post-incident management while building the confidence to lead during real-world emergencies. This course moves beyond basic emergency procedures to focus on the leadership capabilities required to manage serious incidents safely, effectively and professionally.
Aquatic facilities rely on external program providers, including schools, swim schools, coaches, community groups and disability support organisations, to work safely within facility emergency procedures. Emergency Responsibilities for Aquatic Program Providers provides practical guidance on participant supervision, accountability and evacuation responsibilities during emergencies. Participants will learn how to prepare before an emergency occurs, respond appropriately when alarms activate, maintain accountability at assembly areas and work effectively with facility staff during emergency situations. This short course supports safer evacuations, clearer accountability and stronger emergency preparedness across aquatic environments.
